2020.07.08 Memorial to Confederate Soldiers and Sailors

In late June of 2020, protestors tagged the monument and called for its removal. A letter of condemnation was also taped to the monument’s base.
After armed groups took it upon themselves to protect the monuments by cleaning graffiti off the base, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney called for the removal of all local Confederate monuments in the name of public safety.
